[edit] Official Actors

Since Kyl and Burg failing WP:RS is apparently no longer an issue, perhaps someone should integrate the information from [[1]], which includes the names of the five actors playing the Rangers. I'd add it myself, but I have only 5 minutes of access left on this library PC. Arrow 21:00, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll do it.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 21:10, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OO premiere episode titles

I saw what Arrow posted on this talk page saying that BurgundyRanger not being reliable isn't a problem anymore, so i'll post this information here. On BurgundyRanger's website, he has this info listed:

Power Rangers Operation Overdrive 1701 / 1702: Kick Into Overdrive, I / II Toon Disney: Monday, Feb. 26, 8:00 p.m.

I just wanted to let you know about that. I posted the episode titles earlier and they were removed, even though they are correct. The info is straight from BurgundyRanger, so there's no problem believing it.HAVortexDude 22:02, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

This is useless and we already knew that even before you even posted bro.74.195.3.199 17:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

If it was already known, then why was it not posted on wikipedia? I simply put that here to make sure it didn't get removed like episode titles did last year with Mystic Force. HAVortexDude 23:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Just ignore that.—Ryūlóng () 23:43, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Super DriveMax Source

Here's another source for the Super DriveMax Megazord: http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/8955.shtml

It says this: OPERATION OVERDRIVE DELUXE MEGAZORDS - The awesome DriveMax and Super DriveMax Megazords are made up of 5 highly detailed and different vehicle Zords. Each Megazord can also be transformed into a cool truck for even more vehicle action. Lights and sounds are also featured in all three modes: Vehicle, Megazord, and Truck.

I understand what you mean about Linear Ranger and needing a more official source, so I think this qualifies. Glad I could help. HAVortexDude 22:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

How did LR come into the discussion?74.195.3.199 17:05, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Issues

Per Wikipedia is not a crystal ball and Wikipedia:Reliable sources I have removed all information from the article that cannot be reliably sourced to a secondary source. Kyl and BurgundyRanger, despite being relied upon in the community, cannot be cited per the above concerns. As such, I have removed any information from the article that is unknown outside of Disney's workers or affiliates. This includes the episode list, synopsis, and cast members that are not supported by other sources (if someone can cite information at Yuen's, Benta's, and Montemayor's talent agents, then do so).—Ryūlóng () 22:39, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Why would you do something like that? Are you on something? Its a pretty known fact that those are rangers. LOL. DID YOU NOT READ THE PRESS RELEASE? 22:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

http://rangerboard.com/showthread.php?t=99858 74.195.3.199 23:00, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Has the press release been released to the public? That is what's important here.—Ryūlóng () 00:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Evidentally, it has, how else would we obtain it, Ryu *shrugs*. Most of the PR are verbatim what is being said in the above mentioned interviews.74.195.3.199 01:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

We wait for the series to air or some other printed source that mentions stuff like "X portrays the Red Ranger" or "The next episode is titled Y" indirectly from the sources that Kyl and Burg have (TV Guide has episodes two weeks in advance, commercials would have the same information).—Ryūlóng () 01:20, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't see how that's even different....74.195.3.199 01:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

TV Guide is a reliable secondary source.—Ryūlóng () 01:23, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

And so are they. In the 5 years they been doing this, 4 for KLY, HAVE they been wrong once?74.195.3.199 01:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

They are not secondary sources. And the fact that they haven't been wrong once is not the issue. The issue is that we cannot use them as a resource on Wikipedia.—Ryūlóng () 01:28, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I see what you mean. Im thinking you claiming them as PRIMARY sources, lol.74.195.3.199 01:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In a nutshell

Wikipedia needs verifiable and reliably sourced information. Kyl and BurgundyRanger fall under the part of the reliable sources guideline that concerns Bulletin boards, wikis and posts to Usenet.

Since people such as ourselves are not privy to the information that Kyl and Burg get via their jobs affiliated with the Disney Company, the information they provide cannot be reliably sourced to anyone but themselves, and Wikipedia cannot use that information.

Additionally, since most of the information cannot be sourced, it is removed because Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. That article had way too many spoilers for a series that will not air for another month. And unlike information at Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger, we cannot source the spoilers to magazine scans yet. All that we know is what is on Disney's website and what comes out in the preview commercials.—Ryūlóng () 01:30, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I thought this issue was resolved on wikipedia cause for a little while, you were saying wikipedia accepts info from Burg and Kyl. Wikipedia is crap if it doesn't have all the information we know. I've been trying to edit in new information when we get it, but screw it. I give up. You can have fun with wikipedia and their crap rules about reliable sources. I'm through editing information.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by HAVortexDude (talkcontribs).

I feel your pain.74.195.3.199 14:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

It seems as though the rules are more important than the information. It's not like Wiki is gonna swoop in and shut it down just because a rule got bent a little.

The issue came up, again, because it's impossible to source anything to either Kyl or Burg. Wikipedia has rules and guidelines, and I understand that you were helping. It's just that after I was trying to find out where the newest episode title came from, I realized that it's a title for two months in advance. We should not have spoilers for a series that has not aired yet unless they release information to the public about it. If you can find a source that is not Kyl or Burg, then by all means we'll edit it in. But until the series airs, we don't know anything verifiable.—Ryūlóng () 02:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bit more information. Completely verified by Jetix.com

Jetix has updated their nifty secret site: http://tv.disney.go.com/jetix/rangersecrets/index2.html

Within these clips, we find out several interesting things.

The Chillers are indeed based of of the Karths from Boukenger, and they are Flurious's soldiers, confirming that he is based off of Gajah from Boukenger.

Zuban will be the Templar Knight, and now has a fancy cloak. There are more things, but the video player busted on my computer, so can someone else finish them up and see if there is anything significant?

They made a full 30 minute episode out of them (with full show opening). Kelson Henderson is back as Norg the Yeti. He looks like he works for Flurious. one of the ninja groups monsters will be called "Bombardo".Metropod 01:35, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and since Ryulong protected the page, I guess he'll have to be the one to do it. Floria L 17:59, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I have lowered the protection back down to semi-protection. I'll contact GrnRngr or JGP to fill in the info.—Ryūlóng () 21:55, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Ryu, you still think we were wrong?74.195.3.199 03:09, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I never said you were wrong. I said that we could not use you as primary sources.—Ryūlóng () 04:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

That's rather odd, but carry on then.74.195.3.199 05:17, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rod Lousich

According to [2], Rod Lousich will be playing Andrew Hartford and it's a "series lead". Maybe we should add him, considering this also sort of confirms that his last name is most definately Hartford. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.186.162.2 (talk) 18:08, 11 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] NY Toy Fair 2007 reveals new megazord names.

From the press release from Bandai: "The deluxe DualDrive Megazord for the Fall is made up of five highly detailed vehiclethemed Zords that can also morph into truck mode for more action. Combine the deluxe DriveMax (from the Spring) and DualDrive together to make the Dual DriveMax Megazord. Both of them also include cool lights and battle sounds."

[edit] Mercury ranger

I think we should include a section on him since he's the next to join.74.195.3.199 21:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Is there a source on a Disney site that mentions him (ie, have you not learned by now)?—Ryūlóng () 00:08, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay then. Not sure how to incorporate this right now.—Ryūlóng () 00:20, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In preparation for the premiere

Within the next week we should remove some of the things on the page that is clearly information before the premiere of the new season.RangerKing 20:01, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, there is still information that we do not know about the show until it premieres. When the premiere occurs, we can integrate the old information with the new.—Ryūlóng () 21:02, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Which makes no sense as the episodes are up then off again, :rolleyes:74.195.3.199 08:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, now we have a non-forum based source that is attributable.—Ryūlóng () 08:27, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

I would just like to point out that the website dwaynecameron.com is not his official website as the disclaimer says the following: "This is a fan site dedicated to the works of Dwayne Cameron. It is completely unofficial. I am not Dwayne Cameron, nor am I affiliated with his management. This is site was created by fans, for fans." RangerKing 19:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh bugger.—Ryūlóng () 19:24, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

That's why you have to do some investigation with sources.RangerKing 19:37, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

It's better than Rhoda Montemayor's.—Ryūlóng () 19:42, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

What about her?RangerKing 20:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Someone made a fan page and linked that to her article.—Ryūlóng () 20:37, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Extraneous References

Now that the first two episodes have actually aired, do we really need so many references and sources that are obviously found within the show? For example, we have a reference for the first two episode titles. Not really needed now that the episode has aired. Same with the other 15 references on this page. Some of them, unconfirmed through show, need to be kept. Others.. not so much. Opnions? Floria L 20:12, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree. A lot of the stuff is pretty obvious. Yaguruma 21:24, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I thought they air tonight? :( And anyway, even the obvious stuff could still have online (or episode based) references. We could get this to be a featured article :)—Ryūlóng () 21:26, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Check my edit, Disney already premiered. Floria L 21:27, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's still best to keep some references in; like for the characters that didn't show up yet and what not. Those that are in the show can be referenced to the show with {{Cite episode}}—Ryūlóng () 21:33, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Baron von Gerstein

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he the pilot in Mack's little daydream at the beginning of the first episode? Sincerely, Thrashmeister {U|T|C} 02:36, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

yea, that was himMetropod 02:52, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Norg

I'd just like to clarify my edit. Norg has yet to be confirmed to which side he is an ally to. Just because Flurious moved into his cave means nothing, he was treated like a ragdoll, for all we know, he'll move into the Hartford Mansion, so please don't edit it out of hiding until it's confirmed =P Myzou 07:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

For the time being, maybe it would be a good idea for a "others" section (since he appperead on screen, we could also put the baron there). truthfully, going on what your saying, i do not have full trust in that butler. The expressions on his face when Mr. Hartford explained that Moltor took a fake crown seemed questionable. Moltor also mentioned an "informant".Metropod 11:42, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

He does seem to be the type that may turn out to be evil, but since he helped the rangers, he is in Allies, Norg has yet to help either side =P Though an Others section is a good idea =P EDIT: The baron was in his imagination, not a real being as of yet xD Myzou 21:32, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I acutaly got more of a "piggy" (could go ether way) feeling out of him. he seemed to be the kind of dumb that they would do anything if you asked. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Metropod (talkcontribs) 00:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC).
NO UNSOURCED SPECULATION K? :)—Ryūlóng () 01:32, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Speculating is allowed in discussion last time I checked lol, just can't post it in the actual article =D Myzou 20:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

It's simply common sense. Norg fits the motif and also there's been footage of Norg in the snow cave in footage from the Behind the Scenes special if I'm not mistaken.RangerKing 20:13, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

So long as there's no speculation in the article, and this is not supposed to be a forum for discussing the show. You have five other places (off the top of my head) that can be used for this.—Ryūlóng () 21:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism Section

I added a criticism section to this article, as many other articles have in them, only for it to be promptly deleted. Now while I understand the fact that things need to be sourced, it is almost impossible to get a "credible source" when it comes to fan reaction, especially of a show such as this. However, if one visits any major Power Ranger forums, such as rangerboard.com, they can see the general opinions are in agreeance to what I posted here. The content I added to the section was:

  • Possibly the first series in which the majority fans were immediately disgusted by the theme song. Once again moving away from a traditional rock-inspired tune, it follows in the footsteps of Power Rangers: Mystic Force's rap-inspired intro, except going one step further, removing the melodic qualities and making it more along the lines of traditional rap.
  • Generic special abilities and overused one-liners plagued the pilot episode. Writers included M.C. Hammer references, for example, with the phrase "it's slammer time", even though the targetted audience isn't of age to catch the reference.

I already pointed out how one can "confirm" the fan reaction to the theme song. But the second critique is also arguably accurate. Even if the first sentence is warranted to be removed, the M.C. Hammer reference is fact. They used the phrase in the show, it's an obvious reference to M.C. Hammer's "hammer time", and the targetted audience is generally too young to remember who he is. The point being, it appears the writers aren't in tune with the audience.

Anyway, as I said, I understand the need for sourcing, but for fan criticism it's hard to do. I've seen many other articles with such a section, and was just reading some today which featured criticism of a particular game series, and yet found no immediate reference to where they got this information from, even though it was entirely accurate. I feel that considering the negative fan reactions that Operation Overdrive is receiving, it should have some kind of criticism section, even if it doesn't include my material. Thanks for reading my suggestion! FyberOptic 22:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

The problem is that we cannot accurately source negative fan reactions within Wikipedia's guidelines. You could link to a forum post that states, "OMG PROO'S THEME SONG SUCKS BALLZ" and people agreeing, but that's not a good source. Criticism should always be sourced, and the other articles that you read should probably be rewritten.—Ryūlóng () 22:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
The difference here is that it's a criticism section, which has to be held to a different standard than the other factual data, because critisicm is always opinion-based, no matter how you look at it. Not everyone is going to agree with it even if you do have a "reliable source". And considering places like rangerboard house quite a number of fans, I think their general opinion would constitute a "many fans believe" sort of statement in regards to any critique. FyberOptic 23:25, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
I would also state more, but I have to get going.—Ryūlóng () 22:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Ano neh..... There are no other criticism sections in any of the main pr articles. Floria L 00:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] It's not the Templar Knight

Yes, the press release did say the Templar Knight was the guardian of the crown, but if you look at the credits at the end of the first two episodes, it says Sentinel Knight. The press releases have been wrong before, I think. The episodes have more credibility, so you should probably change Templar Knight to Sentinel Knight.HAVortexDude 02:00, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Hartford referred to him as the Templar Knight in the EPISODE, The credits are unreliable, they even credit Magiranger as the source footage, when it was Boukenger that the footage came from. Typos happen all the time. Myzou 06:45, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Um dude, you're wrong. Not once does Andrew Hartford mention the Templar Knight. He calls him the guardian of the crown or something like that. Besides, the battlizer has been revealed in a picture, and the guardian of the crown is seen next to the battlizer. If you translate the Japanese on the picture, it also says Sentinel Knight. It IS Sentinel Knight. HAVortexDude 22:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

The Magiranger is a typo. How can credits be wrong? Other than the Crazy Credits?74.195.9.240 13:44, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Magiranger was a typo of "Boukenger." That and the new Battlizer picture has "Sentinel Knight." And welcome back Rocky.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 22:10, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question about Templar Knight

I'm just curious here, but I was wondering when and where the name "Templar Knight" is mentioned? I'm aware of the "Magiranger" error in the closing credits, but I watched the first 2 eps quite a few times and never once heard Templar Knight. Not to mention that the character is listed as "Sentinel Knight" in the closing credits. Any help on this matter is most appreciated.Chebo 02:00, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I believe it was mentioned as part of something else, but it's been changed to "Sentinel Knight" in the text of the article.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 02:10, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Go wild. I don't get Toon Disney right now, so I haven't exactly watched the series yet.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 21:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Nah, I rather wait till you watch the series first. I like to end our rift Ryulong once for all. Did you read my apologetic letter?74.195.9.240 22:17, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Does this -- http://tvlistings4.zap2it.com/partners/series.asp?prog_id=3959529&series_id=3965546&partner_id=cabe -- constitute 'confirmed'? It's from Zap2It, which is the web site of Tribune Media Services, the largest provider of TV listings info in the country. [edit] Miratrix's Henchman or Master

Someone put in that the other villan with Miratrix was her master and Mira worked for him. But, in the fourth episode it looked like Miratrix was commanding him, so i changed it. Anyone else agree? 216.54.173.218 01:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Would you call someone you're ordering around "Master"?Metropod 02:04, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

1. I don't recall Miratrix reffering to him as "Master", and 2. Early descriptions portrayed Miratrix as the leader of the third faction. 216.54.173.218 02:11, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

1. Monster is blown up. screen cuts to miratrix, she says " I could use a little help here, master". then cut to the indavidual in question, complaining about getting out of the jewel, "And I could use a litte help getting out of here. oh, very well" then summons the sutras. 2. They also called the show "Power Rangers: Relic Hunters"; stuff changes over time.Metropod 02:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

What "description"?RangerKing 23:10, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Casting sides dude, where you've been?74.195.5.83 00:06, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

A certainly don't remember that. Perhaps you could provide a link or something.RangerKing 18:46, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah cuz God knows, I have the sides from last frickin' Spring.74.195.5.83 03:48, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't recall ever seeing any sides with her involved; the two major sides that were released to the fanbase were one with Dax and Rose, and a second with Ronny and Will. The first we ever learned of Miratrix's name that I recall was when Ria Vandervis was credited at J&L months ago, and then we heard nothing more about her all the way until this past episode. Arrow 16:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Forget it....02:51, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mira/Miratrix

Shouldn't Miratrix's name just be Miratrix not Mira/Miratrix? In Mystic force Imperious is just Imperious, not Imperious/Calindor and Leanbow is not Leanbow/Koragg. 216.54.173.186 22:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

That's wrong as hell. Since Calindor BECAME Imperious and same with the others.74.195.5.83 00:08, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

This is another apples to oranges moment. Koragg and Imperious were total changes of apperance. Going from Mira to Miratrix, all she got was a change of hairstyle and clothes. Metropod 20:32, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, Pirate in Pink is on the jetix website (well, most of it) and they added Miratrix to the credits. She is shown as just Miratrix. Here's a pic of that part of the opening: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/4048/miraji9.png 75.75.76.110 02:07, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brownbeard

Can someone please remove the confirmed details section, as the last thing in it has been confirmed to be a minor character in "Pirate in Pink" which was partially shown on jetix.tv. I would, but alas, I'm unaware how to get rid of references :( Myzou 07:53, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Done. For the record, references show up as "ref" HTML tags right where they're originally footnoted, so the reference for Brownbeard was in the Confirmed Details paragraph; trashing the paragraph trashed the ref along with it.
I've also deleted John Leigh and Nic Sampson from the article's initial infobox. John Leigh was obvious. Nic, not so, because he's a character with little air-time that has the potential of showing up in a more important role later. But until he does, I don't feel that he should be listed in that box as having a starring role. Arrow 15:10, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Hehe, I had tried that, but in turn, it showed a blank reference, which is why I asked here XD Musta been the evil preview page =P Myzou 15:48, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Drive Weapon sources

The SGS subpage of Boukenger made note of this, but I was wondering if we should also add what parts of vehicle engines the Rangers' individual weapons are designed after to the PROO page as well. Or is that too crufty/unnecessary? Arrow 16:13, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess that would work. Particularly for the incredibly easy to see ones.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 20:01, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Allies

Please only list the MAIN allies in the section on the main PR: OO Page, there is a reason that there is an Alles in Operation overdrive page, to expand on the allies section that is on the main page. Myzou 22:51, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "BLACK" Black Ranger

It should be noted that this series is the first to have a BLACK Ranger that is black since the MMPR series. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.247.21.121 (talk) 01:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Episode name and 15th anniversary team-up

I wanted to let you know that "At All Costs" is actually "At All Cost" as seen on the episode. Anyways, the main part about this post is about the 15th anniversary team-up. The stuff about Zedd and Rita's son is already on wikipedia, but there is more on the scan. DiscoInferno from Rangerboard translated the scan and the last line from the scan states, "Fans cannot miss this planned collection of successive warriors." That definately means that some rangers from the past are returning for this team-up. 75.75.76.110 01:18, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dragon Scale

Why was this part of the article involving artifacts removed? As fanwank as it may have sounded, it occured in the latest episode.RangerKing 14:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

What are you talking about?—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 18:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I just didn't notice that my original entry was only slightly edited and I didn't notice it at first.RangerKing 18:39, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DriveMax Saber or Drive Digger Saber Mode

Which is it? Both Names are given. Bladesirhc 13:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

For those wondering, "DDSM" was in ep. 2, while "DMS Combination" was in 3. Interesting question though. DDSM came first, but in my opinion, DMS sounds a lot more feasible compared to the usual naming scheme of Megazord weapons over the years. Arrow 16:54, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
