[edit] Fictional character biographies
[edit] Zarl Vorne
The first Power Boy's origin paralleled Superboy's: an Atlantean couple that foresaw Atlantis' destruction used a rocket ship to send their baby to the asteroid Juno, where he was raised by a man who adopted him.
[edit] Jedediah Rikane
The second Power Boy, Jedediah Rikane, is a student in the Legion of Super-Heroes training program at the Legion Academy. Note: This Jed Rikane should not be confused with Jediah Rikane of DC's Starman comic.
[edit] Powerboy
The third "Power Boy" is a member of the Teen Titans during the one year gap after the Infinite Crisis. This Powerboy made his first full appearance in 52: Week 21. Powerboy refers to Darkseid ("By Darkseid's testicles") and uses a Father Box, both of which references to Jack Kirby's "Fourth World" characters. He also has a dog named Kirby, an analogue to Supergirl's cat Streaky.
In Supergirl, Power Boy comes to the rescue of Supergirl and later joins her on routine patrols. When asked his name by Supergirl he replies "Call me Powerboy. No relation." He is somewhat obsessive over his relationship with Supergirl, becoming jealous when she tries to go somewhere without him and plastering the walls of his home with photographs of her. He also jokingly suggests he is stalking her, though his actions may indicate some truth to this.
[edit] Powers and abilities
Due to being born on Apokolips and enhanced by Darkseid, Powerboy has superhuman strength, speed and durability. Powerboy also has the ability to fly and survive in space unaided.
In Supergirl #15, it is believed that Powerboy is an empath, as he can "feel everyone's love, pain, hate..." and somehow fuels his energy manipulation powers. So far he's displayed the ability to generate energy constructs, such as shields and a gigantic hand, as well as the ability to unleash powerful bolts that seem like red electricity.
Also, Powerboy has a "father box" that helps him teleport great distances, and possibly even time. If like the mother box, the father box may have other abilities not yet displayed.
