Powelliphanta lignaria johnstoni is a rare terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is only found in a block of mountainous coastal country, isolated by the sea to the west, and by the Mokihinui and Ngakawau rivers.
This species has conspicuous spirally banded lines in dark reddish-brown upon a light reddish-brown ground above, and a yellowish-olive ground on the under surface. There are no axial stripes.
Major diameter is up to 45 mm, and height up to 25 mm.
Powelliphanta lignaria johnstoni is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being Nationally Endangered.
