Powelliphanta hochstetteri hochstetteri is a rare terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is found on the Pikikiruna Range between Motueka and Takaka, and the Tasman Mountains, at the north of the South Island.

The dorsal surface is sculptured with minute wavy spiral striae, abruptly terminated at the periphery. The base and the parietal callus (thickened calcareous deposit on the upper part of the inside wall of the aperture) are smooth. Variably spirally lined, banded, or zoned with dark-brown or reddish, upon a light yellowish-brown ground. Invariably the umbilicus is free from ornamentation.

Major diameter is up to 74 mm, and height up to 35 mm.

Powelliphanta hochstetteri hochstetteri is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being in Gradual Decline.
