Powelliphanta gilliesi aurea is a terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is found only at Mangarakau, West Nelson, in a small forest remnant only about a mile from the locality of Powelliphanta gilliesi brunnea.
Shell coloration is olive-brown on the dorsal surface, spirally lined in dark chestnut and with a few dark green lines. The base is golden to olive, with a small area of reddish-brown about the umbilicus. The parietal callus (thickened calcareous deposit on the upper part of the inside wall of the aperture) is dark Indian-red and densely granulated.
Major diameter is up to 50 mm, and height up to 30 mm.
