Powelliphanta Sp.Garibaldi is a rare undescribed and endangered large terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is found only in a small site on the Garibaldi Plateau, Nelson Lakes National Park in the north west of the South Island, at altitudes of between 1,200 and 1,400 m.
This species has a compact rounded appearance, and the apex is low. The shell is a glossy brown-olive-green colour, with a dark brown, smooth parietal callus (thickened calcareous deposit on the upper part of the inside wall of the aperture). The colour of the mucous and mantle is faint blue.
Major diameter is up to 38 mm, and height up to 18 mm.
Powelliphanta Sp.Garibaldi is classified as Range Restricted by the New Zealand Department of Conservation.
Threats to their survival come from Thrushes, Hedgehogs, Hares, Chamois, Goats, and Red Deer.
