Poule d'Essai des Pouliches

The Poule d'Essai des Pouliches is a Group 1 flat horse race in France for three-year-old thoroughbred fillies run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile) at Longchamp Racecourse in May. It is the French equivalent of the English 1,000 Guineas.

This race, along with the Poule d'Essai des Poulains for colts, was first run in 1883. Prior to this there had been a single race for both colts and fillies, the Poule d'Essai, which was first run in 1840 at the Champ de Mars, moving to Longchamp in 1857. In forty runnings, the Poule d'Essai was won by a filly on ten occasions.

Jockey Freddy Head holds the record for the most Poule d'Essai des Pouliches wins at seven.
