Potyviruses infect plants and belong to the family Potyviridae. The virion is non-enveloped, the nucleocapsid is filamentous and is 11-20nm in diameter. The genome is a linear positive sense ssRNA. The genome ranges in size from 9000-12000nt. Replication occurs in the cytoplasm.
