Potirendaba is a municipality/county in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The origin of the name comes from the Tupi language.

The 2000 population was 13,656, of which 11,684 were urban and 1,972 were rural. Its life expectancy was 75.42 years. Its literacy rate was at 89.65%.

The city of Potirendaba has lots of history on the founding of the city. The origion of evolutionary history with confusion of various origins, until today, bad definitions and bad documents. The first founder of the land was Manoel Ponciano in 1820 with around 5,000 persons in the land. In 1908, José Contador who resided in Jaboticabal brought a freight with rail.

The mixture of owners and land owners brought the creation of the land. That time, the Distrito to Paz de Potirendaba and the municipality of the same name (second in the history of the colonization of Rio Preto).

The creation of teh city was in the beginning of 1905 with the distribution of land between the herds of João Antônio de Siqueira realized by the engineer Luiz Roncatti. Luiz Roncatti authorized José Rodrigues da Costa constructed houses. Other consturction created a settlement known as "Três Córregos"

On December 10, 1919 under law no. 1676 created the "Districto de Paz" with the name "Potirendaba", separated from the municipality of Rio Preto. The municipality was created under law no. 2098 on December 26, 1925 and founded on March 21, 1926 which constitutes with the Distrito de Paz de Potirendaba. At the end of 1931, the autonomy of the municipality passed into its legislative and controlled by the state, it was restored in April, 1936 for a while and the municipality ruled with the title of the state
