Poth is a town in Wilson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,850 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,850 people, 623 households, and 490 families residing in the town. The population density was 223.9/km² (579.7/mi²). There were 663 housing units at an average density of 80.2/km² (207.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 66.43% White, 0.43% African American, 0.92% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 29.08% from other races, and 2.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 56.65% of the population.
There were 623 households out of which 41.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.9% were married couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.3% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.97 and the average family size was 3.41.
In the town the population was spread out with 31.1% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $35,492, and the median income for a family was $42,279. Males had a median income of $30,885 versus $21,563 for females. The per capita income for the town was $13,910. About 15.5% of families and 18.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 20.5% of those under age 18 and 23.3% of those age 65 or over.
