A posture collar is a rigid collar that is wide enough to reach from under the chin to the shoulders. It significantly restricts neck movement and forces the wearer to adopt a heads-up posture. Many doms prefer their subs to be "proud" of being under their control. The sub may be degraded, tried, or humiliated but they will not hang their head. Posture collars are typically made from leather, but may also be made from metal, rubber or plastics such as PVC. Posture collars are often decorated, and may include other bondage elements such as decorative spikes or D-rings for attaching restraints.

Special type of posture collar is a neck corset.
