Post count
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A post count is the number of posts (replies and new threads) made by a user on an Internet forum. Posts made in forums designated for off-topic discussion are sometimes not counted in post counts, so it is a more "accurate" measurement of their contributions to the forum.
[edit] Use of post counts
In some online communities, the title appearing beneath a user's display name changes by the number of posts a user has made, along with a visual reward for reaching a milestone, such as a star. For example, if a user has 499 posts, making another post (500) might cause their title to change. This is often a cause of forum spam. Spammers make spam posts just to increase their post count and get a new title, or to gain new privileges.
