[edit] Labrador

"Labrador" is Spanish. The word for labourer in Portuguese is "lavrador". Go figure!

Labrador is a 16th century Portuguese term for yeoman farmer.

[edit] Portuguese Canadian Hockey Players

I am certain that John Tavares (hockey player) and his uncle John Tavares (lacrosse player) are Portuguese Canadians. I just have to find a source that cites this information. As well, someone else also added the names of Mario Lemieux and Scott Stevens which is news to me. We need sources that cite that these people do in fact come from families of Portuguese descent.Nhl4hamilton 09:31, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Citations Needed

We will need to give citations of sources for our list, this is an Enclyclopedia and we need to cite sources. Below are the names I removed from the Front Page because they lack citation sources. As soon as we can cite a source for each of the following names below then we will be able to once again add these names to the front of the "Portuguese Canadians" page. Below the names with citations needed:Nhl4hamilton 19:04, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Citation Templates

When citing sources use Citation Templates. The Templates provide a standard format for citations and often cause a contributor not to forget key elements. For example, the cite web template requires, URL, ACCESSDATE and TITLE. There are additional fields, but it will error out if you don't atleast contribute those 3 elements. You may want to see WP:CITET. Nhl4hamilton 19:04, 31 December 2006(UTC)
