Porto da Cruz

Porto da Cruz (pron. IPA: ['poɾtu dɐ kɾuʃ]; Portuguese for "Port of the Cross") is a parish in the district of Machico in the northeastern part of the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 2,793, its density is 111.1/km² and the area is 25.13 km². It is located near Machico. The main industry are agriculture with a few businesses. It is connected with a road linking to Machico. The Atlantic Ocean is to the north. The mountains are to the south.
