The depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement is known as Pornography. This has become a multibillion dollar industry. Ninety-five percent of the world's population has been exposed to pornography. Examples of pornographic materials include adult videos, magazines, live shows, phone sex, cable/pay per view, selected internet sites, art, digital pornography etc.
Jenna Jameson is considered one of the most famous and popular American pornographic actresses in the world.
Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Jameson began dancing in strip clubs at the age of 17. This quickly led to nude pictorials in dozens of pornographic magazines.
After a bidding war, Wicked Pictures, a pornographic film production company, signed Jameson to an exclusive contract. After only a few films, she quickly achieved fame and critical success, and, in 1997, won top awards from three major industry organizations.
Jameson has also made cameo appearances in some mainstream movies and other media, including Howard Stern's 1997 film Private Parts and, in 2002, as the voice of a porn star called "Candy Suxxx," in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
In 1997, she made an appearance for an Extreme Championship Wrestling PPV as the valet for the Dudley Boyz, followed by a few months where she was the ECW interviewer. She also filmed a vignette with Val Venis in the WWE.
In 2001, she debated on the merits of porn against a panel of anti-porn activists at the Oxford Union and won the debate 204 to 27.

...that The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife is an 1820 woodcut by Hokusai depicting a woman sexually molested by a pair of octopuses, perhaps the first instance of tentacle rape depicted.
...In 1970, the Presidential Commission on Obscenity and Pornography concluded that "there was insufficient evidence that exposure to explicit sexual materials played a significant role in the causation of delinquent or criminal behavior."
In general, with regard to adults, the Commission recommended that legislation "should not seek to interfere with the right of adults who wish to do so to read, obtain, or view explicit sexual materials."
- Work on developing a category of authors of pornography, and of works about pornography, especially prior to living memory.
- Help identify a list of scholarly (and other reliable) sources on the history of pornography. (If someone has a suggestion for where to assemble such a list please replace this parenthetical comment with an internal link.) Some good sources are:
- Wayland Young, Eros Denied
- Nadine Strossen, Defending Pornography: Free Speech, Sex, and the Fight for Women's Rights and The Government Vs. Erotica: The Siege of Adam & Eve
- Expand the various articles on the works of the Marquis de Sade.
- Start a series of articles on pornography in various countries and cultures, both in terms of cultural and economic aspects.
- The article Red-light district could certainly use major expansion; most of its links are as red as its lights, and many that are (equally thematically) blue lead to articles that are as short and disappointing as a 25 cent peep show (another article that could use serious improvement).
- Red-light district has now shriveled to stub, and could use some pumping up by someone who understands the meaning of the words "reliable source".
- Fill in more articles in the list of bondage models.
- Revert Vandalism on this portal and on articles to do with Pornography.
