Port of Felixstowe Police
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Port of Felixstowe Police is a small specialised police force responsible for policing the port of Felixstowe.
Officers of this force are sworn in as constables under section 79 of the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847. As a result, officers have the full powers of a constable on any land owned by the Port of Felixstowe and at any place within one mile of any owned land.
Any major or serious crime or incidents become the responsibility of the local Home Office police force, Suffolk Constabulary.
The Port Police operate their own small fleet of liveried police cars and vans.
