Port of Erdemir

The Port of Erdemir is a major port in the western Black Sea, located in Zonguldak Province, Turkey, about 25km from the city of Zonguldak at Lat:41° 15' N, Long:35° 28' E. It includes commercial operations at Erdemir Port, operated by Erdemir, A.S., as well as military facilities.

Old harbour is suitable for 60,000 DWT capacity ships with 295 meter loading quay and 405 meter coal and ore unloading quay. There are 3 cranes that have capacities of 1,000, 1,400 and 1,500 tons/hour on the unloading quay. On the loading quay there are 4 loading and unloading cranes of which one has a lifting capacity of 25 tons and the other three having a lifting capacity of 15 tons each.

The new harbour facilities that are suitable for 150,000 DWT ships started operating in September 1998. It is the largest harbour of west Black Sea. It provides considerable savings in freight charges and serves to third parties as well. It has a 350 meters unloading pier in 20 meters water depth and a 200 meters loading and unloading pier and necessary equipment enabling 70,000 tons of ships to berth. There are two unloading cranes each having 1,500 tons/hour capacity, a conveyor line with 2,500 tons/hour ore unloading capacity and another conveyor line with 1,500 tons/hour coal unloading capacity on the unloading pier and on the loading - unloading dock there are 2 cargo cranes with a capacity of 40 tons each.
