Porfiry Ivanov

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Porfiry Ivanov (18981983) was a Russian mystic whose beliefs have attained a cultural status. He was a self-proclaimed doctor although he had no formal certification. The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has considered his teachings to be heretical. The ROC calls the cult "Ivanovits". [1]

Porfiri Ivanov's sect has its own hymn written by Ivanov himself. The rhythm of the hymn were assumed from the French national anthem "Marseillaise."[2] Ivanov promoted "Detka", a health system that included dousing.
