"PopoZão" is a rap song by Kevin Federline. Released on January 1, 2006, it is a mix between American hip-hop and Brazilian funk music. Produced by Detroit ghettotech music pioneer Disco D, it was loosely inspired by a Brazilian song entitled "Funk do Popozão".
According to the Dicionário Houaiss da Língua Portuguesa, "Popozão" is a slang term meaning "big ass".
The song was originally intended for use on his debut album, but after it received a poor reception from the public, the song was scrapped along with other songs that were to be included on the album. A video of Federline doing odd hand movements while listening to the song was circulated on the internet in March 2006 and became a small Internet phenomenon. It has been featured routinely on E!'s The Soup, and was also shown on Attack of the Show! and The Daily Show. A video remix of these hand motions was then made to the song Peanut Butter Jelly Time, nicknamed "Peanut Butter Feder-time".
The song inspired widespread, gleeful, amused critical derision, largely centered around its lyrics and blustery club-rap backing.
Noted dramatic actor and host of Bravo's Inside the Actors Studio, James Lipton, performed a spoken-word version of the lyrics to PopoZão in a comedy skit on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
[edit] Sample Lyrics
I want to see your kitty, and a little bit of titty.. Girls, don't you worry about all the dough, because a cat is coming straight out of the 'No... Bring that Brazil booty on the floor Up, down, all around, work that shit to the funky sound... Po, po, po, po, popozão, popozão
I want to see some popozão! (ending)
