Pontrhydfendigaid

Pontrhydfendigaid is a village in Ceredigion, Wales, lying on the River Teifi.
It is known for the ruins of the Cistercian Strata Florida Abbey, founded 1164, where Dafydd ap Gwilym is said to be buried and Llywelyn the Great held a council. The Beast of Bont is the name given to a a big cat said to range the area that was blamed for a number of sheep deaths around Pontrhydfendigaid during the 1980s and 1990s. The village is home to an annual eisteddfod and a Celtic Music Society is based at a village hotel.
