Pontresina is a municipality in the district of Maloja in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.
This alpine village located high in the in the Engadin region of Switzerland. It sits in Val Bernina, which is the highest altitude valley that branches off of the Upper Engadin Valley. Pontresina is a noted tourist destination in its own right, but is often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor St. Moritz.
Pontresina has a sister city: Gaylord, Michigan (USA)

The city was first mentioned as pontem sarasinam (1137) and ponte sarracino (1303). Some historicans translate it as Saracen bridge and see in it a reference to the Arab invasion of Switzerland during the 10th century.
