Pontevedra is a province in the southwestern part of the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It is bordered by the provinces of A Coruña, Lugo, and Ourense, and by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean.

Its population is 919,934 (2002), of which no more than 8% live in the capital, Pontevedra. Unusually, the largest city is not the capital, but the city of Vigo with a population of 300.000. There are 62 municipalities in the province.

The province shares the Parque Nacional das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia with A Coruña province.
