Ponte de Linhares

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ponte de Linhares is a 2.5 km long causeway connecting Ribandar to the main city of Panjim, Goa, India. On one side is the Khazan salt pans lands, and on the other is the Mandovi River. There are ducts which act as tide controls. Ponte de Linhares was built in 1633 under the direction of one of the Viceroys of Portuguese India, the Count of Linhares, for whom it is named. This causeway is the sole direct land access Ribandar has with Pangim.
