Pompeu Fabra University (Catalan: Universitat Pompeu Fabra) is a university in Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1990, it is named for the Catalan grammarian Pompeu Fabra.
As of 2006, this public university has 9,000 students. The Business and Economics studies are among the most prestigious ones in Spain and throughout Europe. Famous well-known economists teach in the Business and Economics faculty. Its campus [1]) is scattered through several historic parts of Barcelona, much of it in repurposed historic buildings. The university library is in the Dipòsit de les Aigües, built by Fontserè in 1888; the university also incorporates the former army barracks in Carrer Wellington, buildings in Plaça de la Mercè, Plaça del Teatre, and Plaça de Joaquim Xirau as well as the former Estació de França, Barcelona's historic railroad station.
