[edit] History

[edit] Points of interest

Pomona is notable for two things.

The Majestic Theatre is the oldest cinema in the world that is entirely devoted to silent movies. Every Thursday night, there is a showing of Rudolph Valentino's film 'The Sheik' while cinema proprietor Ron West accompanies the film on the organ.

Pomona is also known for its annual 'King of the Mountain' run. The event starts and finishes in the centre of town and involves a one kilometre run to and from the base of nearby Mt Cooroora with a 600 metre climb to the summit of the mountain sandwiched in between. This event has been held on the fourth Sunday of July each year since 1959.

Australian musician Darren Hanlon's album "Fingertips and Mountaintops" was entire recorded in the Majestic Theatre.
