Welcome from the WikiChemists
Hi, element 84! Just wanted to say thanks for your sterling work on the inorganic compounds by element list. That's been a pet project of mine for a long time - about a year now, but as you can see it's pretty time consuming! I have usually worked on it when I'm away from home and I just have nothing but a Strem or Aldrich catalogue with me! Unfortunately I have been very busy lately, with little time to devote to it. You have really done an excellent job of expanding it, thanks!
I wanted to mention, be sure to look in on us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals where we coordinate activities on compounds, principally through our worklist of 380 compounds. There is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry which covers a broader range of topics such as chemists, reactions, concepts, etc. You'll find the chemists are a friendly group, so please feel free to ask questions, give your opinion, or help out. You can join up by signing your name in the "Participants" section on the project page. Thanks again, Walkerma 01:40, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Uranium trioxide
Hi, Polonium I am DV8 2XL, I edit a great deal in nuclear matters. I am involved in a dispute with another user that has gone to ArbCom (you can read about it here: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#Depleted Uranium and related articles) While I don't think you want to get involved directly in this mess, I will ask you to look at the topic uranium trioxide particularly the section on UO3 gas. This section was put in there to support the contention of one user (the defendant in the ArbCom case) that this uranium gas is drifting about the mid east poisoning people, and that it is caused by depleted uranium munitions impacting against hard targets. He has listed a number of sources for this contention, but as he has no background in chemistry or physics, he is misinterpreting the conclusions of those studies. I cannot defend the integrity of the UO3 article by myself so I am asking if you would look at it and use your own judgment, then delete that section away. You will not be alone there will be several that will join in. I know this sounds like a strange request coming out of nowhere, but if we don't get some other rational voices on this issue this sort of nonsense will continue unabated. --DV8 2XL 23:22, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, UO3(g) is a combustion product of uranium in air: Hoekstra, H.R. and Siegel, S. (1970) "Uranium-Oxygen System at high pressure," Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 32, 3237-3248. (See also Wilson (1961).) --James S. 09:14, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
Subst all
What are you doing? If there's a reason, it'd better be good, and we'd like to hear about it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Elements. Until then, please stop substing. Femto 21:22, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes - stop NOW. --mav 03:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Editors should be logged in users
Hi, you have misread the WP:NPOV policy. It is the articles in the mainspace that should be in the Neutral Point of View, not signed comments of other users. Please avoid removing or editing signed comments of other editors, unless they are constitute Personal attack or grossly violate other Wikipolicies abakharev 21:48, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Did you know? {{prod}} can have a parameter.
Hello there. You have proposed the article Cosmic beam therapy for deletion without providing a reason why in the {{prod}} template. You may be interested to know that you can add your reasoning like that: {{prod|Add reason for deletion here}}. This will make your reasoning show up in the article's deletion notice. It will also aid other users in considering your suggestion on the Proposed Deletions log. See also: How to propose deletion of an article. Sandstein 14:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Neologisms
Hi there, a while ago you made an edit on the Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms guideline. I am proposing a revision to the guideline and I'm soliciting your comments. You can find the link to my rewrite at Wikipedia talk:Avoid neologisms -- cmh 01:00, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
redirect syntax
Hi
I just fixed http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wood_preservative&redirect=no Please fix any other incorrect redirects (to sections instead of articles) you may have made. BTW, tt would have been a good idea to provide an edit summary so that it'd be easy to find all other possible incorrect redirects ofyours. Also, please avoid double redirects. --Espoo 06:03, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
More info below:
Wikipedia:Redirect Please note that you can redirect only to articles, not sections in them; although the syntax allows them, they don't work:
- REDIRECT University of Cambridge#History
Everything after the redirect line will be blanked when you save the page. Any text on the same line as the redirect will stay, but will not be visible unless someone edits the page.
To go back and edit your redirect after it's working, add &redirect=no to the end of the URL for your redirect:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge_University&redirect=no
Be careful when adding categories to templates
Hi Polonium. You accidentally created a bug in the 'sub' and 'sup' templates when you added categories to them. As well as adding categories, you added a line feed, and this broke the wiki formatting in some cases. I fixed 'sub', and Phil Boswell (talk • contribs) has fixed 'sup'. If you've added categories to any other templates, then you might want to check those for the same problem. Regards, --Heron 19:19, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Template:Group
I know its not usually correct to take a speedy tag off something, but instead to add a hangon tag, but the one you put on Template:Group put over 200 articles into CAT:CSD. It is obviously an unneccesary template, but it may be better to take it to TfD where you can get it subst'd first before its deleted. Also, whatever you add to the template, you might want to put <noinclude></noinclude> around it so it is not transcluded onto all the pages that use the template. Timrem 01:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I manually subst'd the template and put back the delete tag. Timrem 21:30, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
You have been blocked
...for one hour for disruptive edits to Deletion Review, in light of previous warnings for disruptive conduct. Do not revert a proper administrative closure under false pretenses; also, do not remove warnings from your talk page. Please use this time to review Wikipedia's guidelines regarding civility. Best wishes, Xoloz 19:04, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Actually that closure was also reverted by admins like Kelly Martin, Freakofnurture, and Shanel. Anyway, the page has now been turned into a disambiguation page so that the closure has been cancelled anyway. Polonium 15:37, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Template:Intlink
I have created a template (see Template:Intlink) for wikipedia links if a redlink is unwanted. If the page exists, there would be a link, if not, there would be no link. See the template for more information. Polonium 13:08, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
RfA thanks
Thank you very much for your support for my recent RfA, which I'm quite happy to announce has passed with a consensus of 67 supporting, 0 opposed and 0 neutral. I'm glad I meet your criteria. Most of all, I'm glad you took the time to evaluate my candidacy, as I believe that's what keeps RfA running smoothly, and I'll be working hard to justify the vote of confidence you've placed in me. Please let me know at my talk page if I can assist you with any admin-related tasks, or just if you have any comments on my performance as an admin. Thanks! TheProject 02:33, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
P.S. I can't help but ask though -- was there a particular reason why you supported everybody? Are you in favour of lower standards for administrators? (I don't mean to sound threatening at all, mind you -- just a honest question.)
RFA thanks
RfA Thank you
Thank you!
Thank you, Polonium, for your support in my RfA. I appreciate your trust and support, and I will do my best to further help this great encyclopædia and community of ours. If there is anything that you feel I can do to help, please let me know. -- Avi 02:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC) |

License tagging for Image:DMPS.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:DMPS.PNG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- I did put a tag on it, but on the {{PD-ineligible}} template I accidentally put in two normal brackets instead of two curly brackets. The template therefore did not work. I have fixed the template, so it has the copyright tag now. Polonium 01:03, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Template:Sig
I deleted this template because it has been rejected by the community (see previous TFD). Another problem with the template is its location; as a previously used (and still linked) template, it alters various users' signatures on older pages. Ral315 (talk) 02:48, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
