The Polisetty family name has more than 1000 years history [1]. Their Mothertongue is Telugu. This surname is in various castes like KAAPU, Arya Vysya (komati), Padmasali etc. Now Our Polisetty family spread are all over Andhra Pradesh State in India. Polisetty is also the family name of Vysya. The various Vysya(trading) castes, enjoyed the monopoly in trading activities for centuries, by virtue of their birth, thus becoming modern India’s corporate and business class. Polisetty family spread are all over Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Karnataka.

The Polisetty vaari families have been residing in the Godavari river delta basin, known as Konaseema[2] area of East Godavari District& West Godavari Districts, Andhrapradesh state, India. The family's main origin as per legends is KOPPARRU village Near NARASAPURAM in West Godavari district and having SETTYPAALA as their gothram. This Family has got KOPPARRU as NAYAMKARAM from the Rulers of VENGI DESAM. They had settled in this village during the Vengi Ruling times. As per the legends, Sri Polisetty Narsappa Nayadu was one of the Sena nayak of Vengi Desam. Their discendents are Traders, Landlords, Pethamdars, Pedhakapus. They were Senanaayakas, Dhanda naayakas of KOPPARRU SEEMA (VENGISEEMA) during the period vengi, chola and vijayanagara rulings. They were by profession village Pedhakapu’s (Village Head), that is village officers. They used to settle common land disputes, collect annual land and other revenues, guarding the village and basically representing the village in dealing with outsiders or even the government. In 16th Centruy One of this family discendent Sri Polisetty Gunnayya Nayadu gaaru came to Challapalli village[3] from Kopparru and he got the post of Challapalli village (E.G.Dist) PEDDHAKAAPU from Pithapuram Rajas in the 16th century. later his discendents also have got the post of challapalli village PEDHAKAAPU / PETHAMDARU. Sri Gunnayya Nayadu's 12th to 16th descendants are now spread in Challapalli, Thallarevu area, Kakinada, Gudala, Dhangeru, Tuni etc places. They are very big business people in Kakinada area in 19th century. They have done sea business with French, britishers. Dhangeru Polisetty family vaaru had 15,000 Acres Landlords in 19th Century. They were called as Dhangeru Zamindars/Polisetty zamindars at that time. We can findout some villages/places with this sirname from our state and tamilnadu.
