[edit] Re: Sources and authorities

(Response to comment by 81.171.156.97, which I'm presuming is you. If not, please disregard this message.) Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn't allow original research; see Wikipedia:No original research. That's why it is so important for articles to be properly cited and referenced; reliable sources can make the article more accurate and authoratative. Otherwise, information just from personal experience could be disputed, unreliable, or unverifiable. In your situation with the GlobalFlyer (and any other Featured Article candidates), the pages are required to have verifiable sources; see Wikipedia:What is a featured article for more information. Ideally, all articles should strive to fit the featured article criteria. The alternative would be to find sources for your information; we're certainly not discouraging people with firsthand experience of a subject to contribute (quite the opposite), but instead asking that those people contribute carefully, in an unbiased manner, and cite along the way. For instance, you could find newspaper articles providing information, or perhaps a reliable website reporting on the event. Or perhaps another person will publish a book or article. I hope this answers your questions; if not, please don't hesitate to ask me again. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 02:50, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
