[edit] CC license?
BTW, I thought you wanted the {{cc-by-2.0}} or {{cc-by-2.5}} licenses, not the {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} license? --ChrisRuvolo (t) 20:12, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Umm, I didn't even know there was a difference. Please change it if you think it is appoproate. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:58, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

- The cc-by license requires only attribution. The cc-by-sa license is a copyleft which requires any derived works to also be licensed similarly. There are other variations, such as {{cc-by-sa-nc-2.0}} which allows only noncommercial use and {{cc-by-nd}} which doesn't allow derivative works (verbatim copying only). These last two versions are not free enough by wikipedia standards (i.e. incompatible with the GFDL). Since the author only requires attribution, cc-by may be used. cc-by-sa is more restrictive. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 02:03, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Permission letter?
BTW, you probably also want to include the permission letter/email exchange on the talk page. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 21:56, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm, what is the legal status of reproducing someone's correspondence? Besides, it would be several emails with us fleshing the details. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:58, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

- If it is private email (not to the wikipedia mailing list or something), I think you need permission. Its up to you if/how much you post, but it may be helpful for your own legal protection and to prevent these images from being deleted in the future when people forget the background. Also it may be helpful to copy here the discussion on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags --ChrisRuvolo (t) 02:03, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
