[edit] Industry

Pollocksville is home to East Carolina Internal Medicine or better known as ECIM. ECIM had its beginning 35 years ago as a vision of Dr. Neil C. Bender in a small office in Pollocksville, North Carolina.

Today, ECIM, a physician-owned practice, has grown to more than 50 physicians and other providers representing more than a dozen specialties, in addition to primary and urgent care services.

Through the years, to allow all of our patients access to comprehensive medical care, the practice was expanded to include offices in New Bern, Havelock and Cape Carteret.

With in-house laboratories, x-ray, CT, ultrasonography, nuclear studies and an endoscopy center, ECIM patients have the option of having medical tests and outpatient procedures close to home.

Dr. Bender has stated that ECIM's goal is to practice medicine "as good as you can find in New York City."
