Political Prisoners movement of Tibet

The Political Prisoners Movement of Tibet was established on 27th September 1991 by the former Tibetan political prisoners. The name of the organisation is Guchusum movement of Tibet. The word 'Guchusum' stands for the Tibetan numbers 9, 10 and 3 and these are derived from the three important dates in the Tibetan history - September 27th of 1987, 1st October of 1987 and March 15th of 1988 when three major demonstrations were crushed in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet.

The aim of the organisation is to create awareness about the political prisoners in Tibet and the human rights violation in Tibet to the international and as well as the national level. The next aim is to educate the political prisoners and to give them food and shelter upon coming to India.

  • Provide food, shelter and health care for the needy Tibetans.
  • Provide means of livelihood to political prisoners coming to India.
  • Publish bi-monthly news letter and magazine.
  • To document high profile political prisoners.
