Polegate is a town and civil parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. It is located at the junction of the A27 and A22 five miles (8km) north of the seaside resort of Eastbourne. Much building occurred after the opening of the railway.

Polegate originally lay on the edge of the Pevensey Marshes, and on a Roman road from Pevensey to Lewes. Attractions in the town include a windmill, built in 1817, and the Cuckoo Trail footpath and cycleway, built on a disused railway line to Eridge, closed in 1968. The town has a railway station on the Hastings to London line.

Polegate parish church is dedicated to St John; there is also a Roman Catholic church (St George).

Polegate is twinned with the towns of Saintry sur Seine in France and Appen in Germany.
