[edit] Pre-history

This article was split off from the main Pokémon article [1]. For the history before 28 February 2005, see that article. --Henrygb 23:49, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bootlegs?

How about a bootlegs section, covering, lessee...

  • Pokemon Jade/Diamond (Telefang bootlegs, not to be confused with the REAL upcoming Diamond game)
  • Pokemon... Black, was it?, for Jap GB
  • SEGA Genesis (platform?) games
  • I think there was a NES game... or was it a SNES one...? I forget...

...anyway, that could become an interesting section thing! ...also you could talk about how fans clamoured to have Green fan-translated, and several teams competed for months, and only then did the fanboys discovered it was essentially the same ****ing game that they already had all those months ago... hehehe... that was funny... hehehe... if that could be written in a NPOV and notable way of course...

Anyway, I think no article would be complete without the bootlegs. Heck, I could contribute myself if need be seeing as I've actually acquired Telefang Diamond.

So, what do you think, cool idea, or just plain stupid? :) Master Thief Garrett 05:43, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

As long as said bootlegs are reasonably well-known, I don't see why not. ^_^ --Sparky the Seventh Chaos 02:38, May 10, 2005 (UTC)
A section after the official games would be a good addition Sonic Mew 14:59, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Glitchs...?

Why were there so many glitches in the Pokemon games, the 'Glitch City', 'Missingno.' 'Pokémon cloning' 'Berry Glitch' and the 'standing on a bush', 'opening up an invisible PC' etc... ?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.200.24.24 (talk • contribs) 06:49, 7 September 2005 (UTC).

I suspect that it's not so much that there's a lot of glitches as that the games are tremendously popular, and thus any glitches that were there (and would have gone undiscovered in any other game) are much more likely to be found. -Toptomcat 22:43, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Truck and keys

Could anyone post some information on this subject? Remeber back in Red and Blue, you'd walk around and pick up keys? Then there was the truck by the ocean....65.65.210.36 05:32, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Character Names - sources

The default/official character names tidbits are actually pretty cool. Where is it posted/discovered that the original GB games initialized names were Nintendo and Sony? Also, are there corresponding default-in-memory names for the GBC and GBA games?

[edit] Promotional events

  • "There are no ways to obtain Mew without using a cheating device or obtaining it directly from Nintendo at promotional events (which are no longer ongoing in Japan). These events were Japan-only and were not hosted elsewhere."

This isn't true. I personally went to an event in The Netherlands where I got a Mew. It was pretty small and lame, though, with a distinct lack of people, so I don't really know how to change this.

[edit] Hiragana

Why are mostly all of the Pokemon games have no Kanji? (207.200.34.177 13:05, 10 May 2006 (UTC))

This is because the screen for the console they are designed for (eg. Gameboy) have small screens and they are aimed at schoolchildren. Placing small Kanji text in the game would make it almost unreadable. (eg. 漢字 as you see here but slightly smaller) --fnfd 15:11, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Are their any game boy games with Kanji?? (WoWheels2006 16:47, 11 May 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Consoles?

This article is entitled "Pokemon Video Games", so theoretically it should also contain information on games such as "Pokemon Stadium" and "Pokemon Colloseum" (albeit separate from handheld section).

I've done the Pokémon Stadium part —Minun Spiderman 15:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Criticisms

I have a few criticisms for these games. 67.188.172.165 20:45, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

In every game, you must battle every trainer that notices you. However, you cannot save during a battle. Because of this, you either have to waste batteries by leaving it on, or turn it off and go through all you went through before the battle all over again. Certainly by now they'd have done something about this.

Also, why does the "RUN" feature appear in trainer battles when you can't run? They should replace it with "CALL" from Coliseum.

Another thing is that some of the yes-or-no questions you can't even say no to. Why do they even give you a choice?

They have updated Red & Blue, which I liked. They have mildly updated Gold & Sliver and Ruby & Sapphire, which wasn't necessary but still nice. Yet, they haven't updated Yellow yet. Yellow, IMO, is the best of the series. You get Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. This isn't possible in any other game. It should be updated.

[edit] unobtainable pokemon

someone told me you can Jirachi by going up to the moon in the space center, when the scientist says a certain number. Another person said Deoxys is up there. Yet, one person said that in emerald, after you have captured all 200 hoenn pokemon you can go to the moon to catch Lugia and get the GS ball from Pro. Birch and capture Celebi. Can somebody help me here? Ragerrat 17:55 9 Sept

All right here we go. Without a cheating device this is how unobtainable Pokémon are obtained. Jirachi can ONLY be found on the bonus disc gamers received when they pre-ordered Pokémon Colliseum. It can only be uploaded to either Ruby and Sapphire and only once per cartridge (unless you start and save a new game). Deoxys can ONLY be found in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald through the use of a key item called the Aurora Ticket that you receive from a Nintendo sponsored event. This ticket will grant you access to a place called Birth Island. A Mystic Ticket can also be obtained through Nintendo. This will take you to Navel Rock where you can catch Ho-oh and Lugia. Again, only in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald. Ho-oh can also be obtained in Pokémon Colliseum by capturing and purifying all 48 Shadow Pokémon and completing the Mt. Battle section. Shadow Lugia can be captured in Pokémon XD. It will need to be purified before trading. Mew can be found on Faraway Island in Emerald by obtaining an Old Sea Map from Nintendo. And it has been recently that Nintendo has started giving away Celebi. The space shuttle does not take you anywhere, and you cannot even board it. There is no area on the moon in ANY Pokémon game. I hope this helps and you should not beleive any rumor stating otherwise. -SaturnYoshi 01:31, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Um, I was wondering... in the "unobtainable pokemon" section in the article, it mentions a surfing pikachu in pokemon battle revolution. However, it isn't mentioned on the page it links to. Actually, neither does the pokemon stadium article. Is it just not considered noteworthy? It does tell how to get one in the pokemon box article, so I assumed it was. If anyone knows and could add it, that'd be cool. -Psi
