Crawdaunt (シザリガー Shizarigā?, Shizariger in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the Japanese Pokémon media franchise. Crawdaunt debuted in 2002 in the Japanese versions of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. In all aspects of the franchise, Crawdaunt, as with all other Pokémon, are used to battle both wild, untamed Pokémon and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.
Crawdaunt's name is a blend of the words crawdad, an alternate name for a crawfish (or crayfish), and daunt, meaning to discourage. Its Japanese name, Shizariger, is a portmanteau of the Japanese transliteration of the English word scissors (シザー shizā?) and the Japanese word for crayfish (ザリガニ zarigani?). The name Crawdaunt refers to the species as a whole, as well as to individual specimens in the games, anime, manga, trading cards, and other media.
