The Pokémon Game Boy Color was a special edition Game Boy released with Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition. The Pokémon Game Boy Color featured the same case shape design as other Game Boy Colors but the case was yellow on the front and blue on the back. The front of the Game Boy featured Pikachu, Togepi, and Jigglypuff around the screen. A Poké Ball is also seen around the power light on the Game Boy. Additionally the 'A' and 'B' buttons have been colored red and green respectively. Lastly the word Pokémon can be found above the 'Start' and 'Select' buttons.

Later, with the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver Editions a second style, featuring only Pikachu and Pichu on the case, was released. These Game Boys were released in Gold and Silver.
