Poinciana Plaza is located in Key West, Florida in Monroe County, Florida. The housing units were built in the mid-1950s for naval housing. They temporarily closed down in the late 1980s and 1990s. They reopened in late 1998 around December. The housings were owned by the city and the lease ran out, so the navy gave the city the housings to be used as affordable housing. The population of residents exploded after the navy gave the city the housings. As of 2006, there 1,074 housings, 998 families(94% of the housing residents) 76 couples living together(6% of the housing residents.) There are zero individuals living alone and there are zero persons over the age of 65 living alone. The median age is 24 years old.
