Pohoda (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pohoda was an electrifying power trio born in the Czech Republic and based in the United Kingdom. Pohoda was founded by former Dirty Pictures vocalist and composer Huck DeMilo when he relocated to London from the Czech Republic in 1996. Pohoda featured DeMilo (who named the band, and changed his first name to “Kuba”, out of what he has since called “an abiding love for the Czech Republic”) on guitar and vocals, Martin BurdenMartin “Budgie” Burden, also known as "Budge Magraw" on bass and Paul Warren on drums. The English press quickly fell in, out and back in love with Pohoda. The group headlined the first ever “London Music Week” (now known as In The City), enjoyed significant radio play, and was featured at the Phoenix Festival in 1997. Pohoda recorded with four different labels in its short life. Some of this recorded material appears on the band Alablaster’s debut CD, “Ancient Ruins, Modern Inventions”. "Pohoda", loosely translated, means "cool" in English (cool as in style, not temperature).
