PNC is the stage name for popular New Zealand rapper Sam Hansen. PNC is an acronym for Palmerston North City, the place where he was born. PNC (aka Sam Hansen) is todays most talked about up & coming artist in Aotearoa Hip-hop. His fluid flow has drawn comparisons to legends like Jay-Z and Notorious BIG but, dont get it twisted, his brand of Hip-hop is distinctly Aotearoa. Hailing from Palmerston North, PNC gained underground notoriety performing alongside Aucklands Breakin Wreckwordz. His unofficial single Day In The Life stayed at number one on the Bfm charts for three weeks and received serious radioplay. He followed that with appearances on P-Moneys 321 Remix, Get Back and the NZ chart topping Stop The Music single from the Magic City album. His refreshing style has caught the attention of NZ Hip-hops elite. At the age of 21 he has already worked with seminal NZ artists such as Scribe, DJ Sir-Vere, Frontline, Dawn Raid and Chong Nee to name a few.
PNC has since been signed to P-Money's Dirty Records where he had released his début album Rookie Card. The first two singles, Bomb! and Just Roll, were relatively successful songs in New Zealand. He followed with Who Betta Than This, the song that is said by many to be one of the best New Zealand rap songs ever made. PNC is among some of the most successful New Zealand rappers, along with Scribe, Savage, Frontline and Mareko.
Since the release of the his debut album Rookie Card PNC has recently released the single for P-N-Whoa! which consists of the Who Betta Than This(remix) Which features Scribe, David Dallas(From Frontline), Young Sid, Louie Knuxx, Koma and Mareko.
