Plymouth Development Corporation

The Plymouth Development Corporation was established in 1993 to develop land in Plymouth Docklands. Its flagship developments included the Royal William Yard. During its lifetime 129,000 sq.ft. of non-housing development and 99 housing units were built. Around 427 new jobs were created and some £8m of private finance was leveraged in. Circa 3 miles of new road and footpaths put in place.[1]

The Chairman was Sir Robert Gerken and the Chief Executive was J Collinson. It was dissolved in 1998.
