[edit] re: Maps for the Rambot articles

I've been generating those individually by myself. There's nothing fancy to it; I just take the county maps which already existed (they were generated from a public domain source), and use a simple image-editing program to place the dots in the correct place based upon Mapquest maps. Once I'm able to buy my laptop back, I'll be at that project again full force. I'm hoping that should be within the next few weeks.

One thing about New England states, though, is that towns tend to be space-filling up there. I don't know if that's the case in Connecticut. If it is, something more in line with the Vermont town maps generated by User:Redjar (see, for instance Addison, Vermont) might be appropriate. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. I'm probably going to steer clear of doing New England town for a while because of precisely such complications. -- Seth Ilys 23:17, 1 May 2004 (UTC)

Click, click. Click-click-click. Click-click. CLICK! Have a nice day.

[edit] Auto diagrams

Thanks for the compliments on my auto diagrams! I have sort of gone nuts with the detail, which I am starting to regret, because now I'm not entirely sure how to clearly render that detail. After creating the engine block and pistons, I had to spend a couple more hours tweaking the model in order to show what's actually going on. That power steering unit is fairly complete, but damned if I know how to show the inside of it so that people can understand how it works. Anyhow, I'm glad you like them. There is an animation of Four-stroke cycle, by the way (linked next to the image captions). -- Wapcaplet 21:29, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] List of emergency special sessions of the United Nations General Assembly

Thanks for compiling this list! - I was planning on doing it myself, but you beat me to it :D. Did you manually research everything yourself? Or did you use a particular source? I am planning on doing on of these for the non-emergency special sessions - and eventually all of the standard sessions... I will be greatful for any advice. --[[User:OldakQuill|Oldak Quill]] 14:16, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Apprentice 2 vfd listings

Hi Plutor. About the separate listing for all the Apprentice 2 contestants, I did that since in the past there have been times when multiple articles were listed together and it caused problems -- people would say "Well, all except A and B" or "All but C" or "Only D" etc. Listing them separately causes its own hassles as you know. Oh well! <shrug> Wile E. Heresiarch 05:08, 25 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Dot project

I don't think I've ever mentioned this to you, but the source county images for the dot-project have all been multi-licensed by James F. and Wapcaplet into the CC-by license. I am asking all of the dot-project contributors to multi-license their dot-project images under this license as well, which just requires simple permission. Would you be agreeable to doing this? I will use the rambot to update the copyright tags in the same way that it updated the tags in the source county images. Thanks! Ram-Man (comment) (talk)[[]] 21:31, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)

Turmeric is on peer review for its alleged anti-cancer properties. I expect your comments on Talk:Turmeric. Etz Haim 10:53, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Image recreation requests

Greetings. I just started the Wikipedia:Image recreation requests project, and I thought you might be interested. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I got your name from the list at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Cartographers.) Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 03:20, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my edit summary.

This guy's just not having a good day with his Wikipedia entry :)

[edit] Map of Connecticut municipalities

Hi,

I'm currently working on this page: U.S. presidential election, 2004, in Connecticut. I wish I could create a map for electoral results at municipality level. Do you have a blank map of municipalities that I could edit ? Thank you.--Revas 21:26, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Hearst Tower, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently-created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ah-ni-ku-ta-ni

When you boldly moved this page, you broke the link from the pagfe to the AfD page. Pleasae fix the link or move it back, This is why pages on AfD are not usually moved until the AfD is over, i think. DES (talk) 16:30, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] AfD/Mugglenet (2nd nomination)

Interesting information re: Rowling; if you have a cite for the magazine that would make an excellent addition to the mugglenet article (assuming it survives afd :). Eaglizard 14:19, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] AFD

I'm curious; what bad faith motivation, exactly, are you accusing me of holding? - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 17:29, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

First, I want to apologize for accusing you of a bad faith nomination here. It is a serious accusation, and on re-reading it, it's not really what I meant. I should have simply agreed with Starblind's opinion that the repeated nominations are getting a little disruptive to AFD and to the development of the article. Bad faith isn't really something that should be bandied around so callously - especially now that I've had a chance to look at your contributions and user page(s), I'm certain you have the best of intentions. I'm sorry that my disagreement was phrased so indelicately. -- Plutor 17:53, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

I moved this here, per my talkheader, to help keep conversations in one place. Hope you don't mind.

I had a feeling it was something like that, especially since it's easy to misunderstand someone's intent or tendencies just from looking at AFD. No harm done, of course. - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 20:23, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

I'm glad you're understanding about my faux-pas. I was worried this was going to turn into.. er.. badness. Incidentally (and maybe ironically), your user page inspired me to join AMW. I overlook header boxes so frequently that I missed your talk header. It's a good idea — I don't like the back-and-forth Talk standard on WP, either, since it makes it hard to follow threads. I'm considering "being inspired" by that, too. -- Plutor 00:14, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] AfD barbs :)

  • Heh, np on the AfD Fan4 spoofs. You can never tell when someone, even when it is myself, takes themselves a little to seriously on WP. Thanks for participating in the discussion, and for leaving the note back. -- MrDolomite | Talk 00:33, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Crossair-hb-akk.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Crossair-hb-akk.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Crossair flight LX498

I expanded the Crossair flight LX498 article to meet the no-stubby DYK requirement. You may want to modify the Crossair flight LX498 article to fit what you originally intended for the article, maybe go more in detail about the cell phone ban. -- Jreferee 05:06, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Danbury_seal.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Danbury_seal.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
