Plugs (fishing)

In North America the term plug is usually refers to fishing lures designed to skip across the surface of the water or plane just under the surface to attract game fish. They are usually made of wood or a synthetic material such as plastic, and have at least one hook attached. They are commonly used in surf fishing and in freshwater angling for large fish such as northern pike. Plugs which are dragged just beneath the surface of the water are known as wobblers. In Australia however the term plug is often used to refer to wobblers.
