Plug & Display

Plug & Display (P&D) is a video connector for digital monitors, such as flat panel displays and video projectors. It was a standard of VESA. It was introduced around the same time as its competitor DFP, but both have been mostly superseded by DVI.
The P&D connector has 10 rows of 3 pins (30 pins), rather than 8 rows of 3 pins (24 pins) like DVI has. In addition to digital video, it optionally can include analog video, USB, and FireWire signals.
There are two alternative names for P&D:
- Enhanced Video Connector (EVC), an earlier name used by VESA
- M1-DA, a name used by InFocus (often shortened to M1)
Also, the Apple Display Connector is identical to P&D except for the shell of the connector, which has a different shape.
