Shortcut: WP:CLARIFY WP:CONFUSE

Sometimes, we all write text that makes perfect sense to us, but leaves out information that readers who don't know the subject as well might find difficult.

Here are some ways to avoid this:

• Explain jargon: A few words to introduce a term go a long way towards helping a confused reader.

• Make sure to make it clear what's happening and to what. For instance, this clarification from an old version of North_American_blizzard_of_2006:

As the system completed bombing, or rapidly deepening, mesoscale banding features impacted the entire I-95 Corridor.

Makes it unclear what is rapidly deepening.

• Make sure you're using the right word(s): The current choice of words seems strange—a non sequitur, solecism, or other malapropism, perhaps. Please make sure this is what you really intended to say.
