Pleistocene extinctions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pleistocene epoch of geologic history saw the extinction of a number of species, most notably that of the Pleistocene megafauna. Paleontologists recognize three major possible causes for these extinctions: climate change, the spread of disease, and overkill by humans, which first appeared during this epoch. The end of the Pleistocene, and transition to the subsequent Holocene epoch, is itself marked by the Holocene extinction event.
