Pleasure Principle was Parlet's first album. It was released in February 1978 on the Casablanca label and produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. The title song went to number 66 on the R&B charts. The tracks include Pleasure Principle, Love Amnesia, Cookie Jar, Misunderstanding, Are You Dreaming? and Mr. Melody Man. This album is one of the more Lush productions from the P-Funk Camp. Debbie Wright left the band only a few months after release of the album and was replaced by Shirley Hayden. Franklin, Hayden & Washington toured in support of the album, beginning in the summer of 1978 and continuing the remainder of the year.
