Planning Acts

4 inter-related Acts of Parliament in the United Kingdom passed in 1990 to reform the planning system in England and Wales. They were:-
- Town and Country Planning Act 1990 - The Principal Act
- Planning (Listed buildings and conservation areas) Act 1990
- Planning (Hazardous substances) Act 1990
- Planning (Consequential provisions) Act 1990.
The Town and Country Planning Act 1990 remains in force as the principal planning act in the United Kingdom but has received a number of revisions and alterations in the form of:-
- Planning and Compensation Act 1991
- Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995
- Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004
Separate legislation governs planning in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
