[edit] Synopsis
When Moya discovers a former Peacekeeper Command Carrier destroyed and abandoned in the Uncharted Territories, the crew boards to investigate and see if they can scavenge anything from it. Rygel recognises it as the Zelbinion, "the most feared ship in the Peacekeeper armada", which went missing in battle 100 cycles ago. It was also the ship Rygel was first imprisoned and tortured on after losing his throne, and it was commanded by the vicious and sadistic Captain Selto Durka, a Peacekeeper legend who Aeryn sees as a great hero.
The Moyans discover that the hulk was long ago stripped, but someone is on the ship: a Peacekeeper technician named Gilina. She and several others were left there by Captain Crais to explore the ship while the Command Carrier continued its search for Moya. Gilina recognises the crew as escaped prisoners and calls Aeryn a traitor. She also explains that the rest of the Peacekeepers she was left with on the Zelbinion were killed by Sheyangs, belligerent aliens who can shoot fireballs from their mouths.
As the Sheyangs approach the wreck again, D'Argo and Zhaan attempt to bluff them by claiming they are fierce Luxan warriors with terrible weapons, which teaches D'Argo the benefits of guile. Zhaan has also convinced Rygel to go to the ship and confront the demons of his torturers, which haunt him. Crichton and Gilina attempt to restore the Zelbinion's destroyed defence screens to save them from the Sheyangs, which will return, while at the same time exploring their unexpected mutual attraction. Aeryn confronts what she has lost by being exiled from the Peacekeepers as she wanders throughout the Zelbinion and discovers old shipmates, dead and burnt by the Sheyangs. Gilina tells her that her former comrades-in-arms have all been demoted due to Aeryn's treachery, and will remain at that status until they kill Aeryn. Aeryn also discovers Crichton and Gilina kissing, and confesses to Crichton that she had been attracted to him.
Rygel finds the body of his tormenter, Durka and, triumphant, spits on it, and takes back a medal Durka took from him. The Sheyangs are successfully defeated, and Aeryn painfully speaks about all that she has lost by being rejected by the PKs. She convinces them to let Gilina go, because Gilina, not wanting to suffer Aeryn's fate, will never tell her superiors that she ran into the Moyans. John wants her to stay, but they agree that would be unwise given the precariousness of their existence, so they bid a passionate adieu.
