Pizotifen (Pizotyline, Sandomigran) is a benzocycloheptane based drug used as a medicine.
Pizotifen is a serotonin antagonist acting mainly at the 5HT1 and 5HT 2A receptors. It also has some activity as an antihistamine. Side effects include sedation, dry mouth and increased appetite.
The main medical use for Pizotifen is to prevent migraine headaches or more rarely for other conditions such as anxiety and social phobia.
