[edit] Appearance
The Pixies, with little exception, look identical. They have square heads with triangular caps (as opposed to the Fairies' crowns), wear grey suits and have sunglasses and earpieces, as well as square wings as opposed to the round wings of fairies. Sanderson differs from standard Pixies because his hair has a cowlick. The Head Pixie (also called “H.P.”) differs as well. The top of his head comes to a point which is completely covered by his cap. He also wears spectacles and has a five-pointed star at the top of his cap. All of the Pixies share the same voice (voiced by Ben Stein). Their voices are also void of emotions, even when screaming in terror. They also carry magic cell phones instead of wands. Unlike fairies, pixies treat magic like business. Their acts are noted by "pings" while the fairies magic is noted with "poofs."
[edit] Personality
The Pixies are frequently referred to as the opposite of the Fairies (not to be confused with the Anti-Fairies). They are seen to be boring executives with dull suites, or as a parody of characters like Mr. Smith in the Matrix Trilogy. Pixies are just as magical as fairies but differ in their personalities. They consider dull, monotonous activities to be exciting and enjoy watching people being bored. They are constantly plotting to take over Fairy World with the intention of making it a division of their corporation "Pixies, Inc."
[edit] Plots
[edit] "Pixies Inc."
In “Pixies Inc.”, the Pixies once attempted and succeeded in buying out Fairy World, turning it into a dull, gray city. All fairies were forced to wear grey suits and were forbidden to float, and were instead required to walk on the ground. Next the Pixies announced new rules requiring that all wishes made by godchildren be submitted in writing for review by a panel of Pixies. Inevitably, any wishes which would result in fun or excitement were declined.
The Pixies' reign was short lived however, as when Timmy Turner beat the Head Pixie in a game of miniature golf. As part of a bet, Timmy was allowed to make one wish unlimited by the new rules. As his prize, he wished everything back to normal and for the Fairies to regain control of Fairy World. After a while, Jorgen Von Strangle uses the Pixies as darts to his dart board.
[edit] "Wish Fixers"
In a later episode called “Wish Fixers”, the Pixies return. In that episode, H.P. leads a company called Wish Fixers, which undoes the effects of “bad wishing”. Timmy, fed up with his godparents' wishes going wrong, goes to the company. There (partly forced by Jorgen Von Strangle who mysteriously now works for the Pixies) he agrees to sign a contract in exchange for the Pixies' services. The contract states that he can not make any bad wishes for five days. H.P. puts electronic collars on Cosmo and Wanda, and tells Timmy that every time he makes a bad wish, Cosmo and Wanda will be "painfully, painfully shocked", technically preventing any bad wishes from being made.
Timmy reacts shocked, and immediately wishes that the collars be removed. H.P. then informs him that removing the collars will break the contract he signed. Breaking the contract will result in H.P. replacing Cosmo and Wanda with Pixies. When Timmy then decides he won't wish anything for the next five days, not risking his godparents being shocked, H.P. tells him that doing that will also break the contract: he must make one good wish before the five days period ends. H.P. then clarifies that the contract only allows one “good” wish: for Pixies to rule Fairy World. In a sadistic display of villainy, H.P. sets the electronic collars on their highest setting indicated by a skull and crossbones, implying that the next “bad” wish is lethal (Cosmo immediately misunderstood the symbol for death, saying, "A skull and cross bones! Timmy! I don't want to be a pirate and lay waste to Dimmsdale! ...WHICH IS WHERE YOU LIVE!" (refers to a bad wish that Timmy made earlier in this episode; Timmy wished that a ghost pirate would tell him a story, but he and his ghost crew went and invaded Dimmsdale).
After careful consideration, Timmy discovers a loophole in H.P.'s contract and wishes for Cosmo and Wanda to be made out of rubber. When H.P. activates the collars Cosmo and Wanda are unaffected. Timmy explains that although initially the wish is bad, in that it gets his fairies shocked, it's also good because it prevents his fairies from getting hurt. At that moment Jorgen Von Strangle arrives on the scene and unmasks Sanderson controlling a robot in Jorgen’s likeness that supposedly was working for H.P. In the end, Timmy wishes that H.P. and Sanderson be his science experiment and end up being surrounded by amoebas, which were more boring than them.
[edit] "School's Out! The Musical"
In a later episode called “School's Out! The Musical” the Pixies again temporarily gained control of Fairy World. Their plan this time involved taking a baby clown known as Flappy Bob. The Head Pixie, and Sanderson, his personal pixie assistant, watched over the child throughout his life, magically changing the world around him in order to convince him that their view of “Fun” (i.e. boring and without excitement) was the correct way for people to live.
Upon reaching the age of 37, Flappy Bob opened a children's summer camp. The Pixies interfered with all of the children on Earth during their summer holiday, making them cause huge amounts of damage to the city whilst playing. As a result, the parents forced all of the children to attend Flappy Bob's summer camp, which was very boring for the children. The Pixies then convinced Timmy Turner that the whole reason that all the children were bored was because of adults. Timmy then wished that kids would rule the world, and the wish was granted by Cosmo & Wanda.
The wish allowed the Pixies to exploit a loophole in Da Rules. Since all of the children on earth were now in power and happy, all Fairies were automatically recalled to Fairy World, and Cosmo & Wanda were imprisoned for granting the wish which gave the Pixies power. As the only remaining magical creatures on Earth, the Pixies were allowed to grant wishes for humans. The Pixies convinced Flappy Bob to sign a contract with them to change the whole world to his vision of fun. Flappy Bob eventually overheard H.P. and Sanderson gloating about how they had manipulated his whole life for their own benefit.
After hearing this Flappy Bob felt betrayed. He embraced his clown heritage and teamed up with Timmy to fix the problem. Wanda managed to escape from Fairy World and assisted Timmy and Flappy Bob in helping all of the children to have fun. When the Pixies arrived to stop them Flappy Bob pointed out a clause in the contract he had signed with them: "The world shall be fun, as defined by Flappy Bob." Flappy Bob immediately declared that fun is exactly as the world was before, and so all of the pixies' magic was undone. The world returned to normal and the Fairies regained control of Fairy World, and H.P. declared that the Pixies' next 37 year plan would target Timmy and wouldn't fail ("when you're 47, you'll pay").
[edit] "Fairy Idol"
In “Fairy Idol”, the pixies make an appearance. Sanderson enters the contest in hopes of being named a new fairy godparent (with H.P. and the other pixies watching from the audience). This, however, is only a cameo appearance.
[edit] Quotes
- Sanderson: Well, HP, now that we have total control over Fairy World, what do you want to do with it?
- HP: I'm thinking Dull and Grey.
- Sanderson: I was thinking Grey and Dull. But that's why you're the boss.
- Flappy Bob: And what's with the floating?
- HP: We have that kind of money.
- Sanderson: Walking is for poor people.
- HP: Everyone, you remember my evil henchman, Sanderson. Sanderson, everyone.
- Sanderson: Hello everyone.
- HP: Finally, something (amoeba) even more boring than we are.
- Sanderson: Oh, the single celled irony.
- Both: Ahhhhhh...!
[edit] Trivia
- The Pixies are very similar in appearance and behavior to the Agents from the "Matrix" trilogy. One Pixie is also named Sanderson, which is very similar to Anderson, the surname of the main protagonist of the trilogy.
- H.P.'s hat doubles as a pen.
- Ben Stein voices all of the Pixies, and H.P. clearly bears a resemblance to Stein.
- In contrast to the deadpan voice work of Ben Stein, the singing voices of the Pixies are performed by rappers Method Man and Redman.
- The preferred music of pixies is rap.
- H.P likes golf, however he cheats with magic.
- Sometimes during Schools Out: The Musical, and Fairy Idol you can see that Sanderson's cowlick is missing.
- The Pixies seem to be smaller in size in their first appearance than all the other times.
