Talk:Pittsford, Vermont
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
== Pittsford has a rich history. The town's nickname is "the Sunshine Village" as it was determined to have the most days of sunshine over the rest of the state. The determination was made as tuberculosis had hit the state, and a statewide search for a location of a sanitorium for adults and children was underway. Pittsford was chosen, and 2 separate sanitoriums were built, one for adults, and one for children, where they could breathe fresh air year round, be in the sunshine, and (they hoped) be cured.
Pittsford also has 3 covered bridges, two of which are still crossable by motorized vehicles.
The view of the patent marker is on the Village Green, next to the Congregational Church, and the 2nd oldest graveyard in the town. The first is across the road.
The views of the valley from any point are beautiful, especially in the area of the Fort Vengence site.
